'Work It' Ain't Working For The Puerto Rican Community Either

For those of you who have been keeping up with the latest news and views in the trans community as the 2k12 goes through week one of the 51 remaining in this year you are probably aware of the kerfluffle that has been building since May over the problematic show Work It.

It has garnered protests, pleas from transpeople and our allies to either rewrite, recast or cancel the show with those requests being ignored by ABC and the producers.

Maybe they should have listened to the trans community.

Thanks to perusing ENDAblog I have advised of another reason I can hate on the show besides the fact it's full of trans stereotypes and it sucks.  Can you say 'anti-Puerto Rican racism' people?   Thought you could..

Now ABC has another marginalized community on their azz about a replacement show that's getting negative reviews reams of negative publicity and a worse Nielsen rating than the canceled show it replaced.

And this latest controversy ain't gonna help those anemic ratings either.

ABC has two choices at this point.  They can either revamp Work It or put it out of its misery and cancel it.  Then again, it may be too late for Option A.

Rihanna Goes Off On Euro Racism

I love Rihanna, and I was not a happy camper to hear about her having to deal with two racist incidents on the European continent within mere days of each other.

She's there for the European leg of her 'Loud' tour, and while at a hotel in Portugal before her December 18 concert date in Lisbon was incensed when a guest went on a racist rant about Black women he aimed at her.

RiRi called his bigoted behind out before getting the manager involved and reported on her Twitter feed:
"I just met the most racist **** EVER!!! This man said the craziest shit abt black women called us dogs, sluts, we don't look like s**t, we don't belong in the same hotels ... needless to say, the #NIGGA in me came out! Bajan accent and all! Lol! Turns out the hotel manager's black.

"Oh and he had the NERVE to diss black people in his Tighty whitey's!!!! SMH...and tbh a lil black wouldn't hurt him (sic)"
Then while she was still fuming about what happened in Portugal a caca storm blew up about an article written about her signature style in the Dutch fashion magazine Jackie.  It referred to her as a 'n***ab**ch" in the headline and RiRi had to put now former editor of that magazine Eva Hoeke in check as well

"@evajackie I hope u can read english, because your magazine is a poor representation of the evolution of human rights! I find you disrespectful, and rather desperate!! You ran out of legit, civilized information to print! There are 1000's of Dutch girls who would love to be recognized for their contributions to your country, you could have given them an article.  "Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That's your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past! You put two words together, with the intent of abasement, that made no sense...'N---A BITCH'?!"
"Well with all respect, on behalf of my race, here are my two words for you ... F---K YOU!!!"
After a weak azz apology in which Hoeke tried to claim it was a misunderstood joke (where have we heard that bull feces before?)  she resigned as editor of Jackie magazine.

Has Jules Manson Been Arrested Yet For Threatening The First Family?

Back during Dubya's first term, there was a contentious argument happening about him on one of our online trans forums that got so heated that a person opposed to him made an intemperate remark calling for his violent untimely demise.

That person posted a note less than 48 hours later reporting that Secret Service agents had come knocking on their door, and one of the GW Bush supporters posted a note moments afterward bragging about calling the Secret Service and reporting the conversation.

Fast forward to 2011 and a comment made by a California Tea Klux Klan member and Ron Paul supporter in which in he called for on his Facebook page in his words "Assassinate the fucken n****r and his monkey children.'

That's a whole 'nother post I can go on full rant about in terms of being another example of the repeated racist behavior that leads me to dislike libertarianism and the Tea Klux Klan, but I'm staying focused for now on Jules Manson's behind.

Hmm, wonder if he's related to Charles?

I'm waiting for his buddies to rush forward and claim he was 'misspeaking'.  I'm expecting the half-assed insincere apology that will be forthcoming along with the Teabaggers and libertarians who will come rushing over here in the wake of me posting this claiming neither Manson or they 'aren't racist' because of the presence of a few token cookie chomping sellout knee-grows in their respective overwhelmingly vanillacentric movements.

I'm also waiting for the news stating that the Secret Service either busted Manson's azz or had a long chit chat with him.

The longer cricket chirping silence surrounds this latest call for the assassination of President Obama and members of the First Family, the more it reinforces in the minds of African-Americans that when it comes to our bodies, none is valued in the face of unbridled vanillacentric bigotry and racism, even those of the POTUS, FLOTUS and the First Daughters.

Post-racial America my azz.

TransGriot Note: According to the ObamaCrat blog, Manson has been visited by the Secret Service and has posted the half-assed apology I predicted he would.

Apparently Black Hair Products Justify Racial Segregation

TransGriot Post:  You're going to get a two for one guest blogging holiday treat today. Two of my fave bloggers weighed in on this latest racism eruption in Cincinnati.   Here's Katrina Rose's commentary on the subject and Renee's for your reading pleasure

Ever since segregation became illegal, there have been some White folks willing to jump on any opportunity to bring it back. Of course, this never makes them racist, because they have some trumped up excuse to explain the need to exclude Blacks.
CINCINNATI (AP) — A landlord found to have discriminated against a black girl by posting a "White Only" sign at a swimming pool wants a state civil rights commission to reconsider its decision.

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission found on Sept. 29 that Jamie Hein, who's white, violated the Ohio Civil Rights Act by posting the sign at a pool at the duplex where the teenage girl was visiting her parents. The parents filed a discrimination charge with the commission and moved out of the duplex in the racially diverse city to "avoid subjecting their family to further humiliating treatment," the commission said in a release announcing its finding.

An investigation revealed that Hein in May posted on the gated entrance to the pool an iron sign that stated "Public Swimming Pool, White Only," the commission statement said.

Several witnesses confirmed that the sign was posted, and the landlord indicated that she posted it because the girl used in her hair chemicals that would make the pool "cloudy," according to the commission.  (source)
Don't we live in a wonderful post racial world?  I love how people keep trying to claim that things are getting so much better, and yet we have incidents like this continually cropping up. It was just a scant few weeks ago that Hermain Cain Uncle Ruckus, was lecturing Black folks about our failures, and declaring racism a thing of the past, as the GOP clapped happily.  Apparently, Whiteness does not mean to be racist, but they somehow keep coming up with reasons to exclude or oppress us at will.

When I write about Black hair, the usual pain in the asses show up to tell me that my complaints are a figment of my over active imagination, and yet Black hair continues to be a site of oppression for Black women.  I must admit that this is the first time I have seen hair used as an excuse to deny us access to a pool; however, Black hair has been known to lead to problems in employment, as well create the belief in White people that we exist to be petted.  Black hair is continually politicized and created as problematic.  It is simply another tactic of Whiteness to other us.

No matter what the White person looks like, no racially specific characteristics are considered problematic. Whiteness is perceived of as the only acceptable norm in existence. Straight hair is prized and promoted at every turn.  Even things like supposedly innocuous shampoo commercials often feature White women tossing their long straight locks around like it's a gift from heaven.  Whiteness continues to be the standard by which all others are judged, and any failure to comply is quickly subjected to discipline.

What bothers me the most about this is the fact that even those who choose to chemically treat their hair, often end up using very natural products to dress their hair, because Black hair is extremely fragile and breaks easily, for example, if for some reason I use gel, I use aloe vera gel, the very same gel that is used to treat burns. Products designed for Black hair, unless someone is still stuck in the soul glow days (shut up, I know I am aging myself), are specifically designed not to be harsh, but then that landlord would know this, had she bothered to learn the first damn thing about her Black tenants.

I am sure in her mind what she did was not racist, and only had to do with protecting her property, but it still amounts to setting up two different standards and purposefully excluding Blacks from public spaces.  These kinds of attacks dehumanize, and I can completely sympathize and empathize with the young girls parents.  One of the hardest things I deal with as a parent of colour is accepting that no matter how much I love and desire to protect my children, I cannot stop the hatred and bigotry that they will face at the hands of Whiteness.  I don't have the words to describe to you what it feels like to know that your are helpless in the face of this massive systemic force, or the pain that is experienced when you look into the eyes of your child, as you try to explain that to many they are considered less than human.

The stress from dealing with the ongoing onslaught of Whiteness is one of the reasons that Blacks die at a younger age.  Despite all of the consequences that come with racism, Whiteness still fails to take responsibility for its past, and present actions, and instead we are offered meaningless platitudes, and criticized for speaking of racism in systemic ways. One need not hang a sign to say no Blacks allowed to benefit from the action, and this is why Whiteness is culpable as a group.
